Knowledge and freedom
Education is not self-evident for many children in Kenya, especially for girls from the Maasai tribe. The Miss Maasai Foundation is committed to this and annually finances the school fees for 40 Maasai girls.
Miss Maasai works with private primary school Kakenya’s Dream, Center for Excellence. The school’s founder and the principal are Kakenya Ntaiya. In this TEDTalk she tells how her childhood led to the founding of this school.

Kakenya’s Dream has as a condition of admission to the school that forced (child) marriage and female circumcision/mutilation are prohibited.
In rural areas, it is estimated that 80% of girls undergo circumcision, 50% under the age of 19 are married off and less than 20% complete primary school.
